The Staff Learning Community is a group of Cal Poly Staff employees that want to share and learn from each other. We were all new employees once and had to learn how to navigate around the University. For the SLC to work and be a supportive Community you have to get involved! Share knowledge, tips, tricks, processes & procedures you've learned or developed that make your life at Cal Poly easier and more efficient. We will grow by all of us sharing! At least twice a year the SLC focuses on a sustainability specific topic.


A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :

In 2022, Kori Nielsen, the former Sustainability Associate, brought in Lorne Mlotek, from Leadinggreen to educate staff members on green building practices as it pertains to the rating system, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The ultimate goal was for the staff members to earn their LEED GA, and after months of studying, over a dozen staff members from various departments on campus earned their accreditation.

There are 5 full time sustainability staff positions on campus and over a dozen student positions. Those positions all have sustainability metrics in their performance evaluations.
