A brief description of the institution’s formal participatory or shared governance bodies:
At the highest levels, The Board of Trustees is responsible for the oversight of the California State University. The Board adopts rules, regulations, and policies governing the Cal Poly Pomona. The Board has authority over curricular development, use of property, development of facilities, and fiscal and human resources management.
At the campus level, Cal Poly Pomona's shared governance bodies include the Academic Senate, Associated Students, and Staff Council.
The Academic Senate is the official voice of the faculty and the primary consultative body in areas established by its constitution:
-educational and other university policies
-academic personnel policies
-selection of administrative officials of university and foundations
-university administrative regulations and practices, including preparation of University Manual

ASI Student Government consists of student leaders either elected by the student body or appointed by the ASI President to serve a specific function. As a whole, your student government aims to serve you; from lobbying on your behalf with state legislators to advocating campus services and implementing fun events.

Since its formation in 1962, the fundamental purpose of Staff Council has been to engage in service to the campus community. Staff Council endeavors to enhance the recognition and worth of each staff member through its community service efforts.
