Colorado College students actively engage local politics through curricular pursuits to support sustainability goals and policies locally.
Colorado College students run the Colorado Springs division of Sunrise Movement. The student-run organization educates the community and advocates for local policy to be enacted. This year, one of the projects included an educational campaign and rally to ask local businesses to stop funding the Line 3 pipeline. https://www.instagram.com/p/CaQD-bqJRJd/?hl=en

Colorado College investigates and advocates for sustainability outcomes and issues unique to Rocky Mountain West through the State of the Rockies Project (https://www.coloradocollege.edu/stateoftherockies/) which seeks to increase public understanding of vital issues affecting the region. Through research, dissemination, and polling, the project advocates for state and regional (Rocky Mountain West) policies that support conservation agendas, water and forest resource use, wildfire policy, urbanization, and climate adaptation and readiness, among other issues.

This year, Colorado College sent a delegation of 11 students to the United Nations 27th Climate Change Conference: Conference of the Parties (COP27). The students represented the college on a panel for Climate Advocacy in Higher Education, and conducted interviews of climate experts to bring back what they learned to the campus community.
