725.75 Metric tons

A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate:

Concordia has established campus-wide recycling facilities in all campus buildings for container recycling as well as paper. Both campuses have selected drop off points for "special recyclables" (batteries, ink and toner cartridges, CDs, and cell phones) and one drop off point and a pick-up service for departments for electronic waste.

Facilities management operates a furniture reuse program internal to the offices at the university.

The R4 working group of Sustainable Concordia educates the community on waste reduction measures, offering workshops and tools in collaboration with the Concordia Students Union.

A reusable mug discount is offered at all cafes and the mugs are available from the union and from the R4 group.

Post and pre-consumer composting is available.

Double-sided printing is set as the default for the new fleet of printers installed.

A bottled water phase-out has been committed to and water fillers will be installed on most fountains on both campuses over the next three years.

The R4 group collects one-sided paper from printing centers around campus and creates one-sided notebooks for sale at the campus retail store and the co-op bookstore.

A free reusable dish loan system is also run by the R4 group, which is used by student groups, and community members.

The Concordia Student Union hired a waste coordinator to ensure that the new student orientation mitigated as much waste as possible.
