Sustainable campuses has been active for 6 years and is part of several grants received by the College through one geography teacher who then coordinated three Mexican university partnerships in the state of Morelos. Dawson pays for the travel, coordinators on site, equipment pedagogical material and has given 20 student research micro-scholarships. All aspects of sustainability are covered under a participatory research theme, including landscape renewal, establishment of gardens, committees, woman's groups, indigenous knowledge transfer, values education, support for women in school, leadership character, medicinal plants, culture and sustainability and community theatre as a teaching method, and group leadership.

Dawson works with the Earthvalues Institute to develop a NatureHood children's program that teaches about urban wildlife. Summer camp and a video series have been implemented. NatureHood is a Nature Canada project and coordinated in Ottawa.
