Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Sustainability Stole/Sustainability Cord

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

Cal Poly Humboldt can display its commitment to students learning sustainability content by students earning a stole that is worn at graduation. This is a new approach to bring greater visibility and recognition to the number of students across many different disciplines engaged in sustainability learning. Students earn the stole by successful completion of 30 or more units of sustainability-related and /or sustainability-focused courses during their tenure at Cal Poly Humboldt. A sustainability-focused (SF) course encompasses an intersection of the “triple bottom line” in some way, while a sustainability-related (SR) course encompasses an intersection of two of the three dimensions in some way (environment-social, social-economy, economy-environment).

This is not a curricular requirement or graduation requirement for students. The DARS system is used to track the completion of sustainability-designated courses by students.
