Our Carbon Neutrality Plan specifies reductions should average 5% per year from 2020-2040. This is based on renewable energy development, reduced demand through efficiency improvements travel policies and finally local, accountable offsets. We have a goal of FY20-21 for a more detailed, project by project accounting for the 5% annual reductions.

Building on our mission to deepen our knowledge of and engagement with the world and all who inhabit it, Kenyon College’s community of students and staff aspire to embrace environmental stewardship as a core value that guides us in all we do. Recognizing the reality of a changing climate, and the unique role of humans in creating and mitigating this, Kenyon will make choices that promote the sustainable and just use of resources. As such, all college decisions will be evaluated against their climate impact, guided by the current scientific consensus.

Our plan for carbon neutrality by 2040 relies on averaging an annual 5 percent (of 2015 baseline) reduction in CO₂ emissions each year. Four benchmarks established in the Carbon Neutrality Plan allow us to track progress and adjust our efforts accordingly
