An Eco-friendly charter has been written in collaboration with all departments. This charter is a frame work including the sustainability guidlines and criteria that must be applied in purchasing decisions.

As for the cleaning products :
• Favor the use of eco-labeled products that guarantee lesser impact on the environment,
• Ban products with toxic chemical components to limit air pollution and allergy risks,
• Ask the suppliers to recycle and reuse the packaging.

Concerning the office papers, it's recommended to favor :
• FSC, PEFC or AEM certified products,
• The purchasing of 90-100 percent post-consumer recycled content products or agricultural residue products,
• Products whose manufacturing processes limit the greenhouse gas emissions,
• Non-chlorine bleached products,
• Possibility of printing in two-sided draft mode.
P.S: UM6P paper supplier provides FSC Mix and EU Ecolabel certified paper.

Yes

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for furniture and furnishings:

It is recommended to favor :
• Products made of post-consumer recyclable or renewable content,
• Long-lasting products,
• Low VOC water-based paint,
• Mercury-free lamps since Morocco has signed “The Minamata convention” that prohibits the import and export of products containing mercury,
• Preference of the certified buildings by third party,
• Recyclable packaging.
It is also recommended to regroup all purchases and order to limit the supplier transportation.

• Verify the possibility of WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) recovery by the supplier,
• Choose low energy consuming electronics,
• Prefer long-lasting ink cartridges to limit the renewal rate,
• Choose multifunctional equipment to enhance management (Checkups, consumption…),
• Purchase of EPEAT or equivalent certified equipment.

• Favoring non-disposable cutlery and washable dishes,

The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University aims to make its suppliers active contributors in achieving its expectations at the economic, social and environmental level. To achieve this, the university intends from their supplier to respect its engagements towards sustainable developement by respecting the following principals :
- Reducing the environmental impacts of their activities
- Respecting Human Rights
- Compliance with legislation and regulations

It's recommended to :
• Promote electric and hybrid vehicles for the transportation of people and/or goods,
• Establish bike sharing programs to reduce the impact of commuting,
• Opt for walking, cycling or carpooling to decrease greenhouse gas emissions,
• Use “Ubike”, the UM6P bike sharing program at the campus,

To ensure sustainable transportation, the university provides accommodation for students to encourage them to live at the Campus and to minimize the impact of transport.
