MSU purchases electricity from Northwestern Energy and from Western Area Power Administration (WAPA). The WAPA electricity is under a long term contract and currently comprises approximately 31 percent of the electricity used by MSU. The above numbers take into account the weighted percentages of the Northwestern Energy and WAPA sources. Other is onsite cogeneration via steam turbine.
