In March 2022, President Barron testified at the PA House Appropriations Committee in support of the Governor's proposal for a 5% increase in funding for the university. A University-wide initiative known as “Achieve Penn State” provides a unified brand for communicating the range of existing Penn State programs that advance access and affordability, a key focus of President Eric Barron’s tenure. In 2018, Penn State joined the American Talent Initiative, partnering with top-performing institutions to commit to the collective goal of enrolling 50,000 additional talented, low- and moderate-income students at colleges and universities with strong graduation rates by 2025.
