Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Creation and management of the new PASSHE Sustainable Development Task Force (SDTF)

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

In 2020, Julie Snow, a sustainability-oriented SRU faculty member. and a small group of her students approached the Chancellor of PASSHE (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education) to question how the state system was addressing the climate crisis. Eventually this resulted in the formation of the Chancellor's Sustainable Development Task Force (SDTF), a network of the 14 state system colleges interested in improving PASSHE's sustainability efforts state-wide. The SDTF is now chaired by Paul Scanlon, SRU Director of Sustainability. It is focused on sharing best practices among all colleges, and has completed an inventory of each campus's sustainability plans and initiatives which will be used to identify areas of expertise that can be shared with other colleges in need of assistance in raising their sustainability efforts. The SDTF is currently developing a Request for Proposals for a renewable Power Purchase Agreement, for which 4 individual universities have teamed up to take advantage of the economies of scale.
