Employees are selected by their departments to attend the orientation.

The training consists of sharing UCCS sustainability goals, sharing details of the LEED Gold certification, energy and water features, waste minimization, alternative transportation support, and provision of a contact to ask further questions or report issues. In 2014, two of these sessions were held for new buildings with a total of 200 people.

Staff are permitted to attend these if they reside in the particular building.

Once per year, employees from the Office of Sustainability, Facilities Services, and the Leadership Team partner to present sustainability updates and programs to interested campus members in an open forum. Topics have included Climate Change and the UCCS Climate Action Plan, Green Buildings and energy savings, and Food.
