A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :

The Sustainability Office works with other campus contacts to incorporate sustainability into orientation activities. The Sustainability Office staffs a table during new student and transfer student registration to share information about campus sustainability. Topics include, but are not limited to, recycling instructions, the surplus program, tips for a green room, sustainability-focused student organizations, sustainability-inclusive academic programs, ways to get involved, etc.

During new student move-in, sustainability student and staff volunteers are stationed at the dumpsters to help people break down boxes and get items in the correct containers.
Some specific events that highlight sustainability efforts on campus that are a part of our orientation activities include:

-Involvement Fair: highlights ways to get involved with sustainability efforts on campus.
-Sustainability Kickoff: connects people to UWRF sustainability groups
-City and Sustainability Sampler: connects students to local businesses, organizations, non-profits, etc.
-The Sustainability Office Open House: invites people to come to the office and get familiar with our efforts.
-Volunteer event with "Grow To Share" community gardens

Lastly, all new students, including transfer and graduate students, received a handbook with campus sustainability information and resources.
