A brief description of steps taken to ensure that e-waste is recycled responsibly, workers’ basic safety is protected, and environmental standards are met:
Greentec, the company used by Laurier for most electronic waste collection supplies a certificate assuring that all crushed hard drives, computer media, and other electronic products are recycled in a secure and environmentally responsible manner with 100% diversion from landfill and no off-shore disposal.
A brief description of the electronic waste recycling program for institution-generated materials:
Individual faculty and staff are responsible for contacting Physical Resources to recycle electronic waste. When requested, Physical Resources picks up institution generated electronic waste and stores it in a central collection facility. Once a substantial amount of electronic waste has been collected, Physical Resources drives the material over to the nearby Recycling Depot. For larger collections of electronic waste, Greentec drops off metal cages for Physical Resources staff to sort the e-waste in and when complete, Greentec comes back to pick the cages up.

A cellphone, battery and print cartridge recycling bin is located in the Fred Nichols Campus Centre.
