A brief description of the student sustainability research program:

Research is one of the essential functions of the Scientific University of the South, for being a process of creating knowledge that provides solutions to problems from the country. We are committed to promoting research that respects good practices in the knowledge production process, ensuring that
with rigor, honesty and responsibility.
The General Directorate of Research, Development and Innovation (DGIDI) manages
comprehensively research at the University. Coordinates and leads the work of
scientific, humanistic, technological research, innovation and its connection with productive and strategic sectors.
Goals:
• Generate skills that allow undergraduate and graduate students to provide solutions to problems faced by society, through a systematic and information-based approach.
• Contribute to the generation of solutions to improve the local and national environment and international.
• Optimize the sustainable use of natural resources and generate technologies
environmentally appropriate for the development and well-being of local, regional and national of the society.
• Raise the academic level of the University and contribute to scientific development and culture of the country. At the university we have research groups on environmental issues that are responsible for creating new knowledge around
a national problem.
The investigations are in different areas and respond to the Development Objectives United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

A brief description of the faculty sustainability research program:

The main way faculty encourage students to reseachr on sustainability is through research groups. Every group have a main target in sustainability topics. The Environmental Engineering Program, The Marine Biology Program and the Agroforestry Engeneering Program are three of the main focused on environmental research, but other programs like Medicine conduct research on health studies.
Through research groups, the university promotes research focused on sustainability issues, providing resources such as laboratories (inputs, tools and guidance). Financial resources through internal and external competitive funds and mainly guidance from specialist teachers.

Cabieses Scholarship: Fund for thesis projects patent modality or undergraduate and graduate software 2024-1
The Scientific University of the South (CIENTIFICA), an institution that promotes the development and competitiveness of Peru through science, technology and technological innovation, calls for the “Funding competition for thesis projects in patent or undergraduate and graduate software modality 2024- 1” aimed at students and graduates (undergraduate and postgraduate) who belong to CIENTIFICA.
The amount of financing for each project may amount to a maximum of S/ 6,000 soles (six thousand and 00/100 soles), including legal taxes, both in the postgraduate and undergraduate categories (students and graduates).

The Scientific University of the South (CIENTÍFICA) and the Governing Body of the conservation process of the Pantanos de Villa Wetlands and its Special Regulation Area (PROHVILLA) join forces to identify the problems that affect their area and whose solution contributes to improving management from the city of Los Pantanos de Villa; which, in addition, can be addressed in research by undergraduate students from CIENTÍFICA programs and other universities in the country. To do this, they jointly make the call for the “Investigate in Los Pantanos de Villa 2023” program for undergraduate students.
Benefits: Research tutoring for each project will be given in 6 sessions of 3 hours each.

Research groups from the Scientific University of the South and participants in the associate researcher competitions, internal funds and those related to
research projects.
a) Both the DGIDI and the faculties and professional careers facilitate management and access to its facilities and other facilities of the university for research, prior coordination.
b) Research groups have access to:
- Institutional emails from the domain @cientifica.edu.pe, common spaces for
prior investigation coordination, access to virtual platforms and resources
library.
- Extra points, priority and/or exclusivity in the DGIDI internal fund competitions, facilities for publication (payment of publication rights, style correction at English) and funds for participation in scientific events.
- A space on the university's research website.
- Priority in applications to external funds.
- Training package to improve your research skillsmembers.
- Press releases, videos and infographics of your publications, projects or profiles of your members.

Support to researchers of the Scientific University of the South to participation in scientific conferences,
Support for participation in scientific conferences and events depends on availability budget and consumption of the allocated fund per year, and may include:
1. Plane tickets.
2. Accommodation during the dates of the event.
3. Inscription.

ALLOCATION OF BONUS TO PRODUCTION SCIENTIFIC
Its purpose is to establish the guidelines for the bonus to the staff of the Scientific University of the South (CIENTÍFICA) that generates scientific production identified as the publication of a scientific article in a journal indexed in Web of Science either Scopus, the granting of patents at a national or international level or the publication of books with peer review.

The Scientific University of the South encourages the generation of knowledge of the staff of the institution through different policies from the General Directorate of Research, Development and Innovation (DGIDI), additionally recognizes the extra time invested by the personnel who generate scientific production through the assignment of a bonus economical.
Bonus allocation is transparent, public and auditable with clear guidelines that allow predictability of the result.

A brief description of the institution’s library support for sustainability research:

The university has specialized libraries, within which the area of ​​sustainability is prioritized. Likewise, there is an editorial fund and memberships in scientific journals for free access to information. Students and researchers have free access to all information in libraries as well as virtual resources. Additionally, each year, faculties and programs submit requirements for new documents, books, and resources that need to be acquired by the libraries. In this way, the information is constantly updated. This is the case of the Environmental Engineering program, for example, which by its definition is the main program focused on sustainability research.
