A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :

New, trasfer and entering graduate students had the opportunity at the university to actively integrates sustainability into the curriculum through educational programs, webinars, practical projects, and events that emphasize responsible environmental practices and encourage students to become advocates for sustainability from the very beginning of their academic journey.

In the following, you will find some examples of activities related (more details can be found in the Excel attachment):

Environmental Health Education Program: During new student orientation, a key focus is on promoting environmentally friendly practices. This is achieved through educational sessions that aim to improve students' knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to environmental health. These sessions emphasize the importance of sustainable living and responsible environmental behavior.

Environmental Education Webinar: Students host a webinar on campus management within the context of a pandemic. This webinar educates attendees about how individual lifestyles impact sustainable development. It also highlights proposals for enhancing environmental management on campus, including the proper disposal of bio-contaminated masks and responsible water usage during the pandemic.

Communication Project for Los Pantanos de Villa Municipal Authority: As part of orientation, students work on a communication strategy for the Municipal Authority of Los Pantanos de Villa. The goal is to encourage environmentally responsible use of natural water channels in this area. This initiative reinforces the university's commitment to sustainability from the outset of a student's journey.

Municipal "Sustainable Businesses" Initiative: New students are introduced to the "Sustainable Businesses" initiative, which promotes environmentally sound practices among authorized commercial establishments. This includes inspections focusing on plastic usage, proper oil disposal, waste segregation, and responsible water and energy consumption. The collaboration with the Municipalidad de Lima highlights the university's dedication to sustainability partnerships.

Environmental Summit for World Environment Day: The university organizes a SUMMIT on World Environment Day to raise awareness about sustainability and climate change. The event encourages students to apply these concepts in organizational strategies and public policy development, emphasizing the university's commitment to environmental responsibility.

Webinar on Threats to the Peruvian Sea: Another educational webinar is dedicated to discussing the threats facing the Peruvian sea. A representative from the university's Environmental Litigation Clinic presents information on the marine environment's challenges. This interdisciplinary approach fosters a deeper understanding of marine biology and environmental law among students.
