The "sustainability office" is built into the function of the Institute for a Sustainable Environment.Campus sustainability cuts across all of Clarkson's operational units and student life. The Institute for a Sustainable Environment is responsible for coordinating and overseeing our sustainability efforts, but the actual implementation of projects requires significant input from facilities, information technology, dining services, and other offices on campus.

The sustainability coordinator interfaces with students and employees from across campus to help them integrate sustainability into their function on campus. This includes training, marketing and course offerings. She also helps to set sustainability priorities for the campus and implement campus-wide programs to implement these initiatives.
