Yes

A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the student body:

The Women’s Centre at Durham College & UOIT exists to educate and empower women. It creates a campus culture that values equality, and celebrates the differences women make to society.

What services are offered by the Women’s Centre?
There are four main facets of the Women’s Centre:

Drop-in space: The Women’s Centre is a safe, fun place for women and men to meet friends, learn about women’s issues and empower one another.

Resources: The resource bank offers a number of brochures, books, journals, magazines and research articles. Items are available for two-week checkouts.

Advocacy: The centre serves as a primary resource for peer support, crisis intervention and information and referral services. The staff can refer students to campus and community organizations that offer guidance and answers to your questions if we are unable to.

Events: The centre hosts gender-specific events including events about women’s equality issues, violence against women initiatives, safety planning and life-skills development while striving to provide education to all members of the campus.
