Texas Tech has a representative on the City of Lubbock's Transportation Advisory Committee.
WHAT WE DO FOR LUBBOCK
The Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) is the group of the MPO that provides technical support to the Transportation Policy Committee and MPO staff. It reports directly to the Transportation Policy Committee. Their responsibilities include.
Review transportation related studies within the Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Area and make recommendations to the Transportation Policy Committee and other agencies.
Provide technical support in the preparation of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan and recommend its adoption to the Transportation Policy Committee.
Review the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) including reviewing projects and making recommendations to the Transportation Policy Committee.
Advise the Transportation Policy Committee on technical and policy matters with accompanying recommendations and supporting rationale.
Assist the Transportation Policy Committee and MPO Staff with technical tasks associated with developing the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) and recommends its adoption by the Transportation Policy Committee.
The committee has reviewed electric vehicles, electric vehicle charging opportunities, bicycle mobility, and additional sustainable transportation opportunities. The committee reviews programs and opportunities and provides its recommendations to the Transportation Policy Committee.

The Texas Produced Water Consortium (TXPWC) was established on June 18, 2021 by Senate Bill 601 with the purpose of bringing together information and resources to study the economics and technologies related to beneficial uses of produced water, including environmental and public health considerations. Texas Tech University, in coordination with the Government Agency Advisory Council and the Stakeholder Advisory Council, serves as administrative oversight for TXPWC.
The consortium will also develop an economic model for using produced water in a way that is economic and efficient and protects public health and the environment. The consortium will provide guidance for establishing produced water permitting and testing standards and will suggest changes to law and administrative rules to better enable the use of produced water.
The Texas Produced Water Consortium (TXPWC) provides reports to the Texas Legislature of their findings.

The government agency advisory council will include members from the Texas Railroad Commission, the State Energy Conservation Office, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Department, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, the Texas Department of Agriculture and the Texas Water Development Board.
