A brief description of the institution’s efforts to support alternative fuel and power technology in its motorized fleet:

The University of Houston has committed to establishing itself as “The Energy University” – a university that will advance the science, technologies and policies that underpin the energy transition.

UH Energy has partnered with CenterPoint Energy and the City of Houston, along with other industry leaders, to create the EVolve Houston coalition. Their goal is to improve regional air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Greater Houston Area. UH President Renu Khator supported this initiative by stating, "It's our responsibility to lead by example in shifting the energy landscape. That is why we are phasing out all of our gas-powered service carts for electric vehicles."

UH continues to increase its electric vehicle inventory as well as strategize for infrastructure to support an alternative-fuel fleet, such as natural gas and propane units/equipment. Additionally, the university is actively exploring grants to further aid these efforts.
