Water Resources Law and Policy: China and Vietnam

This program presents a broad spectrum of water management issues and their policy implications.  The program focuses specifically on the USA, China, and Vietnam, with examples, course discussion, guest speakers, and field trips.  Students begin the program in Hanoi, Vietnam, where a visit to the Halong Bay World Heritage Site is included.  Then, you will cross the border into China and travel to Kunming in Yunnan Province. Afterward, the group will travel to Lijiang, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Zhongdian before returning to Kunming.

The goal of this course is to present a broad spectrum of water management issues. Topics include the hydrologic cycle, watersheds, groundwater, water and ecosystems, water and public health, drinking water, wastewater, water and development, water and agriculture, water and energy, wetlands and wetland restoration, integrated watershed management, and integrated coastal management.
