The Student Government ECO Agency and the Green Committee

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):

The Green Committee works with the Student Government ECO agency in order to carry out sustainable initiatives on The University of Miami campus. The committee is highly involved in being the face of sustainability on campus by hosting events, supporting other sustainable organizations and creating an environment where green ideas are celebrated, expanded on and then put into action.
How they operate:
Co-sponsored by ECO and Green U and via enthusiasm and knowledge, the Green Committee will excite, educate and encourage participants in the events. By imparting knowledge and positive reinforcement will foster long term sustainable habits, which started at the U!

Over the years, the Student Government ECO Agency and its affiliated Green Committee have been reaching out to all undergraduate students by recruiting and educating freshmen during all orientation weeks.

A brief description of the student educators program (2nd program):

"Student residens at UM with a passion for the environment, who want to have a positive impact on their peers and improve sustainability on the campus residence life can apply to become an Eco-Rep and help your fellow residents on environmental issues like waste reduction, energy and water conservation. Position Description & Requirements:
Must be a UM student living on campus; Passionate about creating a sustainable environment within their residential college; Educate peers on ways to be more eco-friendly around campus; Work with other students on a flexible time frame to coordinate events and raise awareness; Meet with others in your building as well as the whole ECO Rep program to plan and discuss upcoming events

Green Grad Group, RSMAS Green Committee, and Miller Green Student Committee

A brief description of the student educators program (3rd program):

Those 3 graduate student groups are representing our 3 different campuses, they serve under the Graduate Student Association, and are all advised or co-advised by the Sustainability Office manager.
They organize monthly events to educate their peers on Sustainable Living but also on programs available through the Office of Sustainability like the Green Lab program.


A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (3rd program):

The Green Grad Group reaches out to all graduate students under the College of Arts & Science located on our main campus
The Miller Green Student Committee serve all med and grad students on the Miller School of Medicine campus
The RSMAS green committee serve the graduate students from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.

The Environmental Law Society, with 7 educators serve the graduate students from the Miami Law School, fulfilling the same mission as the other grad student educators programs
