Does the institution have strategies in place to safely dispose of all hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste and seek to minimize the presence of these materials on campus?:
Yes

A brief description of steps taken to reduce hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:

Reduction of the quantity of hazardous waste on campus is the first listed priority of UO's Hazardous Materials Guide (found here: http://facilities.uoregon.edu/files/Hazardous%20Materials%20Guide%20031110.pdf). This guide lays out several strategies for waste reduction, through purchasing, inventory control, material substitution, scale reduction, product exchange, and recycling/reuse. To comply with this, the UO has a materials exchange program, and keeps a chemical reuse inventory.

A brief description of how the institution safely disposes of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:

RCRA is already a mandated federal law that requires proper storage and handling of hazardous materials. UO fully complies with this law.

UO Environmental Health and Safety collects and prepares hazardous materials for ultimate disposal by commercial contractors in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Policies covering waste disposal are found in the UO Hazardous Material Guide (found here: http://facilities.uoregon.edu/files/Hazardous%20Materials%20Guide%20031110.pdf)
