A brief summary of additional ways the institution collaborates with other campuses to advance sustainability :

1) On October 23-24, 2008, the University of Oregon hosted the inaugural Oregon University System (OUS) Conference, in collaboration with all other public universities in Oregon. Senior administrators, auxiliaries directors, staff, and students came together to share on-the-ground successes, discuss new challenges, and build the critical information networks necessary to transform our campuses into models of sustainability. The second OUS Sustainability Conference is planned for February 2011.

2) Researchers from the UO, Oregon State University and University of Illinois are collaborating under a three-year, $1.6 million grant from the National Science Foundation to study ways to increase the energy output from solar cells. More information about this study is found here: http://comm.uoregon.edu/archive/news-release/2010/8/nsf-funded-project-aims-grab-more-sun-solar-cells

3) In the fall of 2009 and 2010, the UO and Oregon State University competed in the Energy Civil War to see which school could generate the most energy from their Recreation Centers' ReRev(TM) elliptical machines during the week of the Civil War Football Game. The event was coordinated by the UO Office of Sustainability and the OSU Student Sustainability Initiative.

4) The UO is also engaged in several OUS-wide sustainability research initiatives that leverage the expertise spread across the Oregon University System. These include the Institute for Natural Resources, the Oregon Transportation Research and Education Consortium, the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute, and the Institute for Water and Watersheds.
