A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:
Commuter emissions are based on numerous assumptions that need to be confirmed in the future. Main assumptions include the % of FTE population commuting by automobile based on 2009 survey (50% students, 75% of staff), trips per week (4 for students, 5 for faculty and staff), weeks of commuting (31 for students, 42 for faculty, 48 for staff), mpg (20.5 for students, 20.0 for faculty/staff based on analysis of 2009 parking records and changes in average fuel economy), carpool(2% students, 5% staff), and miles per trip (20 for students, 15.1 for staff). Transit use estimated to be 2% for students and 3% for staff for 4 days/week, and 3 miles.
