OP 15: Campus Fleet – version 2.2

Frequently Asked Questions

How has this credit changed between STARS 2.1 and 2.2?

Minor edits were made to this credit. Applicability now allows institutions that don’t own or lease motorized vehicles to mark the credit as Not Applicable. Detailed guidance has been moved to Measurement. Reporting fields added for gasoline only and diesel only vehicles. A comprehensive list of differences can be found in the 2.2 Summary of changes.

Are we required to report 100% of the institution’s vehicle fleet for this credit?

Number reported under “Total number of vehicles” must be inclusive of all vehicles (not just those that are more sustainable). Data outliers (80-100%) should be clarified.

Example Responses

  • Missouri State University – Uploaded an Excel spreadsheet with an inventory of the campus’s vehicles, the make and model of each vehicle, and its fuel type.
  • University of Central Florida – Uses the Notes field to provide a breakdown of the 100% electric vehicles on campus.

Common Issues Identified During Review

  • Score and/or Numeric outliers: Earning full points or close to it may be an indication that conventionally fueled vehicles were underreported. Numbers must be inclusive of all fleet vehicles. Data outliers or exemplary performance should be clarified in descriptive field.
