"All injury and illnesses included on IU's OSHA 300A document are included as an individual recordable occurance. As OSHA 300A is reported on a calendar year, the numbers represented here are for Jan 1, 2022 through Dec 31, 2022, which differes from IU's reporting timframe for the rest of this STARS report. Bloomington's numbers represent the reporting for the Bloomington Campus as well as the auxilery campus of Bradford Woods, which is included in Bloomington's reporting boundary.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) reports workplace injuries and occupational disease cases to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as numbers of incidents out of total employees (who worked for the University for any length of time, and for any number of hours per week, full or part-time, including student workers). Therefore, the number of "employees" of IU Bloomington, for consistency with EHS and OSHA is 28,865 in the performance year, and 16,697 in the baseline year. The above figures represent incidents of an annual average of 28,865 employees working 29,234,264 hours. Using OSHA's baseline for calculating FTE, which is 200,000 hours for 100 full-time equivalent workers (working 40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year), this makes IU's FTE OSHA employee figure 14,617. This is the figure we have used rather than the Pre-5 figure, which comes from the IU Faculty + Staff Headcount.
Data provided is from calendar year 2019, while full-time equivalent data in Pre-5 is from FY19 (July 1 2018-June 30 2019).
