A brief description of the methodology/tool used to calculate the percentile local or regional rainfall events for which the institution manages runoff on-site using LID practices and green infrastructure:

For buildings that specifically pursued LEED stormwater or rainfall management credits, Ball State used modeling that treats the stormwater runoff from 80% or 90% of the average annual rainfall using acceptable best management practices (BMPs). For example, the LEED Gold Health Professions Building treats the stormwater runoff from 90% of the average annual rainfall using BMPs. For all other new buildings and renovations, BSU is required to do stormwater modeling for the Muncie Sanitary District. We do stormwater modeling using HydroCAD, which is part of AutoCAD Civil3D. Calculations are total flow allowed to enter the system based on the local drainage standards and then providing the required storage to meet those requirements with the associated discharge.
