A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to staff:

These programs are FORMAL TRAININGs secured with student, faculty, and staff: Recycling "Game": Office of Sustainability has developed a fun training to teach staff, faculty, and students what items can and cannot be recycled or composted. The process is to contact all labor departments on campus and schedule a game a minimum of 2x per month with the goal to reach all departments by year end. This effort is a recurring annual basis.

Green Office Certification: Every office on campus is encouraged to become Green Office Certified. Student Coordinators (Training and Events, Sustainable Purchasing, Energy & Water Conservation, and Recycling) "consult" with the department for improvements in all of those areas in their offices. Those offices that meet the criteria are awarded certification. Each office names a formal green team that receives training on a formal basis centered on waste reduction, energy and water use reduction, sustainable purchasing options and practices. The green team in turn trains their colleges as part of the formal certification process.

Student Training: Berea College submits and has received grant funding to fund travel and conference registrations for students to attend sustainability conferences. To date, students have attended AASHE and Food Recovery Network Conference.
