Name of the campaign:
RecycleFest

A brief description of the campaign:

RecycleFest is a recycling educational campaign and competition that takes place among the residence hall. First, there are 6 tabling style events that take place in different residence halls. At these events, residents can answer questions about recycling to win a reusable straw, decorate bottle-cap pins, make reusable grocery bags out of old t-shirts, or play a game of “Trashketball” where one tests their recycling knowledge. Residents were also given recycling guides to put in their rooms. After these educational events, a month long waste assessment followed, where residence halls were assessed once a week for four weeks.
RecycleFest Fall 2020 was virtual, but previous events were in person with regular waste assessments to measure effectiveness.

Leave Green is a partnership between Goodwill and Boise State. Goodwill provides multiple collection bins for on-campus residence to donate unwanted items. These items would most likely have ended up in a landfill without this program. It also helps give back to the local community since the revenue of the sale of the donated items help fund Easterseals-Goodwill local job training, disabled/disadvantaged advocacy, counseling, treatment, and other social services.
