In order to improve sustainable literacy and environmental impact aspects of Champlain College’s actions additional supplemental trainings in Waste Diversion, E-Waste, Fair Trade, and Conflict Minerals are occasionally presented on campus by Eco-Reps and Center for Service & Sustainability staff.

Physical Plant staff participate in annual trainings to maintain adequate health and safety compliance with federal OSHA regulations and are taught by Hickcock & Boardman https://hbinsurance.com/webinars-seminars/

OSHA 10-Hour Construction Course: This course is ideal for supervisors, foremen, employees, and sometimes even Project Managers. The course focuses on various areas to discuss: Introduction to OSHA, the Competent Person, the General Duty Clause, Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, Personal Protective Equipment, Respiratory Protection, Excavation/Trenching, Scaffolding, Fall Protection, Electrical/Lockout-Tagout, Stairways/Ladders, Confined Spaces and Fire Protection/Welding. Upon successful course completion, each attendee will receive a card of completion through the OSHA Training Institute.

Developing Safety Recognition: Do you struggle with making changes to your safety training? Are employees bored with the same training over and over again? What do you HAVE to do for training each year? How do you get employees involved? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, this seminar is perfect for you. We will explore what training is required annually and what people need to have refreshers on and how to test their competencies. We will review several different formats of training on how to “mix things up” with your training. As well as getting your employees involved!

Spring 2022 trainings included Hearing Protection (March) and Defensive Driving (April)
