As part of the Green Office Certification Program, the Office of Sustainability has begun offering Lunch and Learn events that include information about a sustainability topic, networking with other participants in the program and updates on campus sustainability. Three hour-long sessions were held in 2022-2023: Why the heck is my office so cold?, How do We Estimate Campus Greenhouse Gas Emissions, and Campus Sustainability Projects. The first half of all of these sessions took the form of a training presentation provided by Office of Sustainability staff. The second half allowed time for questions, networking and updates.
In addition, the Office of Sustainability has offered two trainings in partnership with the Center for Teaching and Learning that were open to all non-academic staff and faculty. These sessions were titled "Teaching Sustainability: Preparing Students for Citizenship in a Global Society," held in May 2023 and "Climate Change Across the Curriculum" held in October 2023. The "Teaching Sustainability" was offered as part of Camp Teach and Learn, which occurs annually in May and provides professional development for non-academic staff and faculty. The "Teaching Sustainability" session was attended by a mix of staff, from programs such as Community Partnerships, and faculty. This workshop will be offered annually.
Finally, the Office of Sustainability advertises that it is available to do customized trainings at staff meeting for College divisions and departments. Examples include trainings at Advancement Division staff meetings and a training for the FAST Team, which includes all of the academic department assistants.
