Environmental Model Committee
1. The Committee provides leadership in college-wide environmental planning and implementation by developing policies in support of campus-wide sustainability goals, initiating programs and overseeing community environmental education. The Committee advocates for college operations that function as models of sustainability by working on environmental initiatives with the appropriate administrative, faculty and student offices, committees, and groups.
2. The committee is specifically concerned with climate action planning for mitigation of carbon emissions and campus climate resiliency; the conservation of energy, water and other natural resources; the minimization of environmental pollution; and reducing the college’s ecological footprint.

A brief description of each sustainability office:

The Office of Sustainability was established in 2013 to direct the College's campus and community sustainability efforts and priorities. The mission of the Office of Sustainability is to advance the understanding and application of holistic sustainability through projects on campus and integration in the curriculum. The Office of Sustainability has one full time staff member (Assistant Director of Sustainability), a part-time Faculty Director, and paid and unpaid student interns.

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:

The President's Sustainability Council was established in 2019 to further sustainability goals as described in the College’s Strategic Plan and Campus Sustainability Plan. The Council works with the senior administration to approve campus-wide sustainability initiatives and policies, develop an annual campus sustainability campaign, and ensure effective communication of the College’s sustainability efforts across campus and in the community. The Council has selected the following annual theme topics- Putting the Liberal Arts into Climate Action (2019-2020), Nourishing Community (2020-2021), Pass on Plastic (2021-2022) and Climate Change/Culture Change (2022-2023). They also passed two new policies in September 2020 - an updated Sustainable Buildings Policy and a Bottled Water Policy.
