The species was discovered in drain tile outlets on the campus of Indiana University Southeast

With the help of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the campus was able to identify the groundwater isopod.

We do not know the extent of assessments DNR used to identify the isopod.

The species was identified in a drain tile outlet. No plans are in place to disrupt the area currently.
