The Student Government Association (SGA) includes an elected student body president, vice president, student senate of 24 members (18 elected in the spring and 6 reserved for the freshman class), and a five-seat judiciary branch headed by a chief justice and appointed by the president with confirmation from the senate. In addition, all students can be active in SGA by attending meetings and serving on committees.
The president of the student body serves as a nonvoting member of the IU Southeast Faculty Senate, a member of the IU University Students Association (AUSA), and on various other committees. The president is also responsible for maintaining communication between the faculty and administration and the Student Senate, as well as campus organizations and the student body in general.

The IU Southeast Faculty Senate consists of a body of faculty members, elected by their peers, whose purpose is to exercise faculty authority for the Southeast campus.

The purpose of the Staff Council at Indiana University Southeast at New Albany shall be to represent non-academic staff in the communication processes and the decision-making of the University and:
• To increase the sense of identity, recognition and worth of each staff member in his / her relationship to the University.
• To identify concerns relating to staff and to seek their solutions.
• To provide a channel of communication for staff with administration and faculty.
• To promote the development and adoption of policies which will aid in retaining highly-qualified personnel.
• To integrate the staff into existing University affairs.
• To establish and promote University-wide activities, publications, workshops and seminars.
• To create a stronger bond within the support staff.
Chancellor's Advisory Council and Committees

• Chancellor’s Cabinet is comprised of the chancellor; the vice chancellors for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Administration and Finance, and Alumni and Community Relations. The Cabinet meets twice monthly or as needed and also holds off-campus retreats several times each year. It serves as the senior planning and decision-making authority for the campus.
• Campus Budgetary Advisory Group (CBAG)
Provides recommendations to the chancellor and the Chancellor’s Cabinet on budgetary and other fiscal matters as part of the annual campus budget construction process for the following fiscal year and also at other times when requested.
• Chancellor’s Advisory Council on Diversity
The Chancellor’s Advisory Council on Diversity is comprised of faculty, staff, and students appointed annually by the chancellor.
• Board of Advisors
Indiana University Southeast Board of Advisors is to be an active conduit for the sharing of IU Southeast information to the Southern Indiana community and from the community back to the administration at IU Southeast.

o Informs SGA of committee’s recommendation and solicit student input via SGA members.
o Discusses SGA input and makes decision on recommendations to the chancellor.

The highest governing body for IUS is the IU Board of Trustees, on which there is a student represented. Eligible students may apply for a two-year tenure. The Student Trustee Search and Screen Committee selects applicants to interview. Selected student trustee candidates are invited for interviews with the committee, which take place in the spring before the term begins. After the interviews, in accordance with state law, the search committee forwards 10 candidate names to the governor of Indiana.

The governor of Indiana appoints the student trustee.

To help the IUS campus to provide programs and services that support academic success for the region’s diverse student population. As representatives of the Southern Indiana community, we will accomplish this by actively participating and collaborating with the leadership at IU Southeast to develop strategies that mutually benefit the community and the campus.

The logic behind the above questions:
We wanted to acknowledge that we do have a campus community council. This council does not make institutional decisions but does host campus representatives. IUS services both Southern Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky. So, having community voices on a council allows IUS and community representatives to develop programs and discuss community matters that assist with community development.

Additional Context
SGA
The Student Senate provides communication between the student body and the administration and faculty. By resolution, it requests changes and makes recommendations to the administration and faculty concerning campus policies and procedures. Additionally, the Student Senate approves funding for events from the Student Government Association funds that provide the campus community with increased social, cultural, and educational opportunities.
