A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level:
Loyola has used its institutional voice to advocate for issues related to our primary role of educators. We use our campus to support community sustainability efforts as described here: https://www.luc.edu/neighborhood/ and here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JSyEBFd48qo_IYmkOI0oX8vsz13itm48/view and include examples such as:

Locally we engage with area Aldermen, the Mayor's Office, State Representatives and the Governor to support their sustainability agendas around land use, transportation planning, energy efficiency in buildings and other topics.
Currently helping advocate for sustainable transportation at our Health Science Campus: https://activetrans.org/dprt. You will see Loyola listed as one of the partners with the adjacent VA Hospital.

The University has signed onto various letters in support of sustainability-related actions and legislation and engaged our legislators locally as well as in Washington DC on these topics.

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the international level:
Loyola has supported students participating in international policy discussions including participation in United Nations Conference of the Parties on topics including Climate Change and Biodiversity Conservation.
Loyola joined the America is All In coalition in Glasgow, Scotland for COP26 to be a part of the Second Nature delegation and represent higher education's voice: https://cop26.ecojesuit.com/2021/11/cop26-is-a-reflection-on-the-actions-or-inaction-the-urgency-and-process-for-transformational-change/

Locally we engage with area Aldermen, the Mayor's Office, State Representatives and the Governor to support their sustainability agendas around land use, transportation planning, energy efficiency in buildings and other topics. We've supported the City of Chicago, Cook County, and other units of government on sustainability-related initiatives as well.
