Good Stuff Campaign

A brief description of the campaign:

Directed at students. The Good Stuff Campaign occurs during move-out (also the Final Exam period) at the end of the Spring Semester (i.e., the end of our academic year). Multiple large donation bins are placed in each residence hall. As students move out, rather than throw away furniture, bedding, clothing, food, toiletries, etc., students can donate their belongings if they are in sufficient condition. Donations go to local community fridges, food pantries, and non-profits.

Over the past 5 years, the Good Stuff Campaign has collected, sorted, and distributed:
-653 Home Essential Kits
-1000+ bags of bedding and clothing
-650+ pieces of furniture and small appliances
-230+ boxes of food

In Good Stuff Campaign for the 2022-2023 academic year, 3 box truck-fulls of furniture, bedding, and clothing were delivered to multiple local non-profits.

Green Office Program

A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):

Directed at employees. The Green Office Program provides all Loyola offices with step-by-step guidance and action steps to develop more sustainable office practices. Offices apply, detail what actions they already do, and appoint a Green Office Representative, who is the Office of Sustainability's point of contact within the office and a sustainability liaison. The application asks the Green Office Representative what sustainable actions their office does or does not do. The Loyola Office of Sustainability provides information on how to develop each sustainable office practice asked about on the application to green office representatives, allowing for significant and accessible growth to willing offices. The application is divided into numerous categories (i.e., Energy & Emissions, Sustainable Procurement, Public & Community Engagement, etc.). New offices to the program will attend an orientation with a staff member of the Office of Sustainability where questions are answered and sustainability goals are established.

21 different offices offices participate. Each office has different strengths and areas for improvement. One office's success can trailblaze for other offices and one office's failure can act as a lesson to other offices as well.

Each question on the application is an action an office either does or does not do. Yearly meetings between the Office of Sustainability and a given green office representative provides each office with a roadmap towards continuous improvement.
