A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:

Human Resources
As of December 2023, Workday includes an onboarding checklist for new employees that encourages them to complete the online Sustainability Module for staff, entitled, "Envisioning a More Sustainable McGill." The module is for staff to learn about ways they can incorporate sustainability into their workplace and home life. McGill's Onboarding and Orientation site also features a link to the employee training module (https://www.mcgill.ca/onboarding/quick-links).

More info on the module can be found here: https://www.mcgill.ca/sustainability/learn/sustainability-module

The Onboarding and Orientation website also hosts "Your Guide to McGill," which includes links to web pages for the Office of Sustainability, the Equity team, Indigenous initiatives, Accessibility, and Staff Fitness, as well as other well-being information on libraries, concerts and museums. This website is targeted towards new non-academic staff members.

Academic Personnel Office
The Academic Personnel Office (APO) provides many details about sustainability initiatives for new faculty members. Academic staff can learn more about the university's sustainability commitments, current professional development opportunities, and various sustainability resources on the APO website. The site includes a link to the online staff module, "Envisioning a More Sustainable McGill," which helps them learn about how they can incorporate sustainability practices into their home and work lives.

Workday postings
McGill's sustainability achievements are also mentioned in each job posting on the university's Workday portal: "McGillians are proud to be part of a community that is both global and local, inspired by challenge and committed to shaping a better future. McGill received a Gold STARS rating in sustainability, is among Canada’s greenest employers, and is a top Montreal Employer."
