Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE) Survey
McGill participates in the Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE) survey and analysis. All ranked academic staff* (excluding hospital-based clinical academic staff) at McGill are invited to participate in the survey, which covers various aspects of academic life including workload, departmental climate, mentoring, tenure and promotion processes. The survey was last administered in Winter 2021 to 2,224 ranked academic staff (representative sample).

Exploring New Models of Work @ McGill Survey.
This survey was sent to all 3611 Administrative and Support staff (representative sample) in December 2021 and January 2022. The survey included questions on job satisfaction, workplace culture, work/life balance, and learning and advancement opportunities.

*Ranked academic staff: Assistant, Associate and Full Professors (tenure-track and non-tenure-track), Assistant, Associate and Full Librarians, Faculty Lecturer and Senior Faculty Lecturers; Assistant Professors, Special Category. Does not include Course Lecturers and Instructors.


A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:

Results of the AAUDE survey were shared with senior administration in the Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic). Follow-up action with Faculties, if deemed necessary, was determined at overseen at that level.

In terms of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives, AAUDE collected data are assessed to monitor responses, and the Associate Provost (Equity & Academic Policies) works with McGill analysts to identify and respond to any issues that surface in relation to EDI.

Similarly, results from the Exploring New Models of Work @ McGill survey were shared with senior administration for follow-up with unit heads. The survey was conducted as part of a university mandate to take an in-depth look at new ways of working in support of the university's mission, while encouraging employee engagement and innovation.
