A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):

SF State's orientation booklet contains an introduction to campus sustainability. Orientation tour guides show off various sustainable features of the campus during orientation. These include compost collection bins, the campus fuel cell, the Bike Barn, water-saving landscaping features, and rainwater collection. During the school's Welcome Days, the campus hosts a zero waste lunch which serves as an orientation to recycling and compost collection. The Office of Sustainability and Residential Life sponsor a reusable water bottle giveaway to all incoming students in housing to educate them about preventing waste from single-use containers.
