Green Buckeye Certification

A brief description of the campaign(s):

In February 2013, The Ohio State University at Marion was publically recognized as one of 15 Ohio State units across the state and the first ever Ohio State regional campus to receive the “Green Buckeye Certification” honor from The Ohio State University. The Green Buckeye Certification recognizes university offices, departments, and faculty who incorporate sustainability into their actions and touches upon areas such as communication and education, energy efficiency and conservation, recycling and waste reduction, water conservation, and purchasing.

This project was spearheaded by a student group at Ohio State Marion. All students, faculty and staff were integral in the success of this ongoing campus initiative.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):

As noted by Ohio State Marion Dean & Director Gregory S. Rose, this is an honor the whole campus shares. “This recognition is a result of everyone’s efforts to recycle and reduce trash and the campus commitment, largely implemented by the maintenance department, to introducing more sustainability through energy efficient fixtures and HVAC systems and water use reductions,” explained Rose.
