While not necessarily programmatic in nature, the University of Connecticut has initiatives and opportunities for employees to engage in community service.
One primary example of employee engagement in supporting and participating in service-learning projects. Faculty and professors have the opportunity to design a service-learning course and support students The university has a Faculty Guidebook for Service Learning Pedagogy to support the creation of service learning classes. Some examples of service-learning projects include Keney Park Sustainability Projects, Sustainable Community Food Systems and Husky Reads among others. Another way the faculty and staff can engage in community service is through the office of Community Outreach. They can support community connections and partnerships. More details can be found here: https://communityoutreach.uconn.edu/partner-with-us/.
