Does the institution make cultural competence trainings and activities available to all students?:
Yes

A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:

Since it is not logistically feasible to gather the entire campus community in one location, Puget Sound provides this training in the orientation program for incoming students. Prelude, Passages, and Perspectives (the name of new student orientation) introduces first-year students to the Puget Sound experience by addressing student identity, establishing a safe and inclusive community, and celebrating the individual worth of every person. This program, I Am Puget Sound (IAPS), is the first of its kind in an orientation program. Unlike many “diversity education” programs, it educates beyond cultural inoculation and explores the multitude of differences (apparent and latent) that Puget Sound students will face in their communities on campus and beyond. First-year students attend the program on the opening weekend of Prelude, Passages and Perspectives.
