Presidential Sustainability Internship Program

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):

The first of its kind at USC, the President’s Sustainability Internship Program connects students with co-curricular learning opportunities that advance university sustainability. Beyond the deliverables that interns produce through their individual positions, the goal of this paid internship program is to build a community of students who come away better equipped to advocate for sustainability at USC and beyond. Throughout the academic year, the full cohort of interns (16) are brought together to build community, share knowledge across their different project teams, and gain the skills to grow as sustainability champions.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):

The PSIP students regularly interact with other USC students through social media posts, tabling at events and interacting with students that visit the Sustainability Hub. The PSIPS are trained to talk to other USC students about ways to engage in sustainability at USC, to take the Student Sustainability Training, and to learn about USC’s Assignment: Earth Goals (USC’s 2028 Sustainability Framework).

As of 10/27/23, PSIP students have conducted 47 hours of tabling and engaging with other USC students about sustainability initiatives and activities at USC. In addition to this, four PSIP students regularly interact with other USC students, staff and faculty at the Sustainability Hub, working about 52 hours a week collectively for about 45 weeks per year.

We present the data for just the four PSIPS whose main job role is engagement below.
