As part of new student orientation, all undergraduate incoming Tommies engage in an online New Student Orientation Canvas course which includes content exploring sustainability, eating on campus in a sustainable way, and things students can do during their time to promote sustainability. This work is continued in their required FYEX 100-Foundations for College Success course, a first-year experience course that is often described as "extended orientation."
All entering graduate students have the opportunity to earn the Sustainability Essentials Digital Badge as part of orientation. Badge earners are introduced to core concepts of sustainability and their connection to our St. Thomas mission. Badge earners will also learn how the university is taking action to contribute to sustainability goals and identify ways they can get involved and contribute to efforts at St. Thomas and beyond in their own lives.

The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for undergraduate and transfer student orientation. The Dougherty Family College (DFC) is responsible for orientation for students entering the two-year DFC program, and graduate programs are responsible for orientation for their incoming students.
