The Phase 1 Engagement for the Climate and Sustainability Action Plan (CSAP) was developed through a comprehensive online engagement strategy. The engagement team, in collaboration with the CSAP Integration Steering Committee, utilized the Bang the Table platform to create an online survey and ideas board.

Survey Promotion: Various methods were employed for survey promotion, including social media channels, campus newsletters, list serves, emails from the university president, and the central CSAP website.
Demographics: The survey attracted a wide cross-section of the UVic community, including students, staff, faculty, alumni, and visitors.
Engagement Levels: A total of 4,300 visits were made to the engagement website, with 697 people actively participating by providing comments.

Participation Levels: Out of 4,300 website visits, 697 individuals actively participated in the engagement process.
Demographics: The survey received responses from students, staff, faculty, alumni, and visitors.
Support for Vision Statement: 670 responses were received, with varying levels of support for the draft vision statement.
Changes to Vision Statement: 359 respondents wanted changes, with common themes including the desire for urgency, ambitious targets, and action-oriented language.
Additional Topics: Respondents brought up additional topics related to sustainability and climate action in response to survey questions.

The UVic Climate and Sustainability Action Plan (CSAP): Phase 1 Engagement Summary link (https://www.uvic.ca/_assets/docs/csap-phase01-engagement-summary.pdf) is an extensive report on how the campus community was included in assessing current sustainability culture, and helping to determine the direction UVic will go in addressing sustainability issues in the future.
