Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

Data for the Operational Characteristics were requested from the Institutional Planning and Analysis department at UVic:

Number of Academic Divisions, Number of Academic Departments, Number of Students Enrolled for Credit:

For consistent UVic description entries, the data was obtained through consultation with the VPAC (Vice President Academic and Provost Council) for the 2022 year.

Total Number of Employees:

Data related to the total number of employees was collected by referring to the Human Resources department, and is referring to the 2022 year.

Full-Time Equivalent Student Enrollment (FTEs):

Official annual graduate and undergraduate FTEs for the academic year 2022/23 were sourced from the respective reports from SAS, an internal data tool, including:

Official annual graduate FTEs: Using the "Enrolment - Graduate FTEs by Department (Annualized).srx" report.
Official annualized undergraduate FTEs: Utilizing the "INST Undergraduate FTEs DOM and INTL.srx" report.

Combining the above figures to calculate the annualized total FTEs for the academic year 2022/23.

Full-Time Equivalent Student Enrollment (FTEs) in Distance Education:
Data on FTEs in distance education were collected through the following SAS reports:
Official annualized undergraduate FTEs: Extracted from the "INST STARS PRE-05 fully online undergraduate FTEs.srx" report.
Official annualized graduate FTEs: Retrieved from the "INST STARS PRE-05 fully online graduate FTEs.srx" report.
Combined to determine the annualized FTEs for fully online programs in the academic year 2022/23.

PRE-05: Number of Students Resident On-Site, Number of Employees Resident On-Site, Number of Other Individuals Resident On-Site:

The data for these items was collected by consulting Campus Housing, for the 2022 Fall residence head count. This data includes our students in residence, and our students in the LAM family housing. Data for non-students living in Family housing is not tracked or known at this time, and will hopefully be tracked and made clear in future reports.

For other on-site residents, used a factor to calculate the average annual occupancy rate and estimate the number of individuals resident on-site for UVic's Guest Residence. The first step involved determining the total room nights sold over a specified period, in this case, from May 9 to August 13, amounting to 30,458. Subsequently, the total room nights available were established by considering the number of beds (2500) multiplied by the assumed annual duration of 365 days, resulting in 912,500. Using the occupancy rate formula, we then calculated the percentage of rooms occupied, yielding an average annual occupancy rate of approximately 3.34%. Finally, to estimate the number of other individuals resident on-site, we applied the occupancy rate to the total number of beds, leading to an approximate figure of 84 individuals. The beds are located in 2 guest houses, and the unoccupied beds in student housing during the summer.
