"---" indicates that no data was submitted for this field

Total energy consumption (all sources, excluding transportation fuels), performance year :
2,871,503 MMBtu

Total clean and renewable electricity generated on site during the performance year and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes:
369 MMBtu

A brief description of on-site renewable electricity generating devices :

UW Seattle's five on-site solar photovoltaic installations generate electricity at the following locations:
1. Alder Hall - 50 kW
2. Mercer Court A - 34 kW
3. IMA - 33.2 kW
4. Elm Hall - 25 kW
5. Maple Hall - 25 kW
6. Life Sciences BIPV -
7. UW Center for Urban Horticulture-Merrill Hall - 9.6 kW
8. Power Plant - 8.6 kW
9. UW Mechanical Engineering Building - 2.65 kW

Non-electric renewable energy generated on-site, performance year:
0 MMBtu

A brief description of on-site renewable non-electric energy devices:

None.

Total clean and renewable electricity generated by off-site projects that the institution catalyzed and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes, performance year:
0 MMBtu

A brief description of off-site, institution-catalyzed, renewable electricity generating devices:

None.

Total third-party certified RECs, GOs and/or similar renewable energy products (including renewable electricity purchased through a utility-provided certified green power option) purchased during the performance year:
51,030 MMBtu

A brief description of the RECs, GOs and/or similar renewable energy products, including contract timeframes:

The UW Seattle campus participates in Seattle City Light’s (SCL’s) Green Up program by paying a premium on electric bills, which SCL uses to fund solar demonstration projects, and purchase RECs from new renewable energy sources that include wind, geothermal, dairy bio-gas and small hydro. In 2015, the UW paid $224,340 in premiums. As a result, SCL bought 14,956 MWh of RECs.

(NOTE: Participating in the Green Up program does not impact the UW's GHG accounting because all SCL delivered power is carbon-neutral. Any GHGs produced by non-hydro sources are offset by SCL, irrespective of the Green Up program.)
