A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :

The Office of Sustainability worked with the Registrar's Office and Faculty Governance to create a new Sustainability Focused Course (SFC) and Sustainability Inclusive Course (SIC) Designation for all courses that appears on the College's searchable database for all courses offered. The Office of Sustainability then surveyed all Academic Departments and Programs to help populate the initial list for the Registrar's Office. In addition to the 40 Academic Departments and Programs, five additional categories were added to capture additional courses that fall outside of Academic Departments and Programs. The five additional categories include Academic Centers (5 in total); College Courses (5 subjects); the Museum Studies Certificate Program; Integrative Pathways (9 in total) and Physical Education. The data includes courses from Summer 2021 until Spring 2024. Only courses that provide 2-credits or more were included in the inventory. Lab sections were not included as separate courses because all labs at Connecticut College are required as part of a regular course enrollment for associated courses (students cannot enroll only for a laboratory portion of a class or enroll in the lecture but not the lab).

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each offering or section of a course was counted as an individual course

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:

Each section of a course was counted as an individual course. Courses with a single section but multiple cross-listings were treated as a single course. Courses with multiple lab sections and a single lecture section were counted as a single course.
