Sustainability Hub Libraries presentation: A physical and virtual space that seeks to foster collaboration, cultivate connection, and bolster engagement for all things sustainability-related on campus. The overall goal of the Sustainability Hub is to support the long-term cultivation of a campus-wide culture where sustainability efforts are valued, recognized, and easily accessible. Presented at following conferences:
NYCSHE 2020:The NY Coalition for Sustainability in Higher Education (NYCSHE) unites representatives of higher education and supporting organizations with a common interest to promote, sustain and advocate for environmental, economic and social responsibility as envisioned by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
AASHE/GCSHE in 2021: Individuals from 353 institutions across 23 countries came together to connect, learn and discuss the conference theme “The future is…” that reflected the uncertainty about the future that many feel and invited participants to recommit themselves to the urgent work of building a future that is sustainable, equitable, and resilient.
Binghamton University hosted the Women, Climate and Insecurity Conference in April of 2022. University faculty and staff organized and led different presentations and workshops.
As the United Nations Environment Programme marks its 50th anniversary, we invite you to the Women, Climate, Insecurity Conference. Together with social scientists, scholars, legal experts, and activists we will discuss the climate crisis and the injustices, disparities, insecurity, and militarized responses crisis often incurs. The conference aims to create an international dialogue between activists and academics from diverse disciplines about how to create a more liveable and just future.

Michael Kukawa, the Director of Operations in Physical Facilities Department, is serving as the President of the SUNY Physical Plan Administrators Association (PPAA) conference board. He has managed and coordinated summer and winter SUNY PPAA conferences. Many topics presented in these conferences are directly related to sustainable planning / design / construction and O&M of campus infrastructure.
Emma Baudendistel is the Clean Energy Program Administrator of our Southern Tier Clean Energy Incubator which offers a full suite of mentoring, networking, training and technical support to new clean energy companies.
Pamela Mischen, associate professor of public administration, is a member of the board of trustees of Roberson Museum and Science Center and the advisory board of the Healthy Lifestyles Coalition of United Way of Broome County.
Martin Larocca, Resource Recovery Manager, is a representative on the America East Sustainability Network. The AESN planned and developed a sustainability conference for the Summer of 2022.

In the Spring and Fall of 2022 Recycling and Resource Management interns earning credit hours through the Environmental Studies department reviewed the AASHE STARS reports from Binghamton University, other SUNY campus, and other private universities in New York of similar size. The comparison reviewed data related to sustainable waste management, educational outreach and engagement, and communication.
A brief description of other inter-campus collaborative efforts around sustainability during the previous year :
Binghamton is a leading member of a consortium, New York Higher Education Large Scale Renewable Energy Project, to initiate a large renewable energy procurement process for multiple public and private colleges and universities. Binghamton is one of the five steering committee members to review technical data and member inputs to guide decision making processes. The goal is to procure long term power supply from new renewable energy projects while managing price risk of wholesale electric price.
Binghamton is a founding member of the America East Sustainability Network. This network uses the athletics partnership through the America East Conference to further our collective sustainability goals.
